I'm familiar with all the basics like turning on IMAP in Gmail (which was already on since he's been using the account already with his old computer and Outlook).Screen 1: Backstage (File) tab > Account Settings > Account Settings Screen 2: C lick on an account then click the Change button. I set up a new computer with Outlook 2016/2019 and connect to his existing account in IMAP mode. Change the delivery folder for a POP3 account in Outlook.I have a client using regular email accounts. Press the Change Folder button at the bottom of the dialog. Select the POP3 account for which you want to change the delivery location. When you create email accounts in Microsoft Outlook 2010 and newer, the default setting is to create a separate data files for each POP3 account.Note that the delivery folders for IMAP and MSN accounts can't be changed changing the location for Exchange server mailboxes will remove the mail from the server and can break Exchange features.File-> Account Settings-> Account Settings-> tab E-mail.Sometimes it starts over and sometimes it goes up to 8 minutes. The only time you need to secure an account, in my opinion. The problem is that in the status box, it shows synchronizing subscribed folders and usually shows about 2 minutes. Please be aware that some users with a. Complete the process by clicking Finish button and you will be directed to restart Outlook. The weird thing is that another computer being used in the office has another 2 gmail accounts plus this problematic account and it seems to be able to send and fetch WHILE the sync is in progress. I've set the sync interval to 1 minute or 5 minutes or 30 minutes.Once the sync completes, outgoing mail sends and incoming mail comes in, but then it will sync again and no mail transfers until it's done. His old laptop did something similar with outgoing email taking a while to initiate sending or for new email to get fetched and they thought a new computer would fix it. I've tried unsubscribing to all the folders but the Inbox.
In Office 365 Outlook 2016 , Deliver All Pop3 Accounts To One Inbox Update Unread CountThere are quite a few folders (maybe 30-40) but per above, this account works OK on another computer and all the settings are identical with the exception that Outlook is 2016 and not 2019.Most of the time when I have clients trying to use Outlook and Gmail, I just move the client to something else like Office 365 Exchange, but this client doesn't want to use/get their own domain name and wants to stay with the accounts.I know Outlook and IMAP Gmail isn't the best matched pair. Internet speed it good - cable modem at about 100Mbps down and 17Mbps up.The mailbox used to be 11GB and we removed older emails so it's only about 3.6GB now. I've set it not to update unread count and several other possible tweaks. I've turned off Starred, Snoozed and Important folders for IMAP. I've set Gmail to only allow synching of 1000 items in each folder. This other computer has Outlook 2016 and not the newer 2019 v1906 that's on the new computer, but the old laptop of problematic user also had Outlook 2016 and had problems.I've gone through selective folder synching and only synching/subscribing to the Inbox. Back on the main Outlook screen, if a folder is clicked, it shows Synching folder xyz at the bottom of the screen and then updates that folder in real time to see any recent additions or deletions in the folder. On this screen I also unchecked Get folder unread count for subscribed folders since that was recommended in a lot of search results I found. This way ALL of the subscribed folders don't get synched when the sync happens. I chose the second setting and then selected ONLY the Inbox. One is for Download complete items including attachments for subscribed folders and the other is for Use the custom behavior defined below. There are two radio buttons. And the strange thing is that with devices like smartphones, they can connect to Gmail accounts and show all the data in all the folders (though it may not all be synced to the phone since it would fill up the storage) without lengthy delays. So having the default set to sync ALL folders when only the Inbox needs to sync seems to be a poor default. Now forward GMail to the new Microsoft email address and everything shows up in one account viewable in Outlook Yes, the settings I described are "how it is intended to work" though having to wait 60 seconds and even 2 to 4 or more minutes for a sync to happen is just too long. I'l see how things work tomorrow during the day before calling this solved. To everyone who responded, thanks for your replies.Wow, that is a lot custom settings just to get GMail to work with Outlook hope this works.Another thought would be to have the client create a free Microsoft email then connect only that account to the Outlook client. For smaller mailboxes or ones without too many folders, maybe this is OK, but as the mailbox grows, it adds considerable time to the sync. With these settings, when clicking Send/Receive All Folders, the sync happens almost instantaneously. And I tell my clients that if they need to send mail and fetch new mail, to close Outlook, wait a few seconds for it to close in the background and then launch it again. I can live with the first sync being "slow" as I know it has to sync 11GB or 3GB or whatever is in the mailbox. But once the initial sync is done, then the syncs should be quick, but they weren't due to the continual synching of all the folders. I also know that and I expect that. Your comment about it taking several hours when first doing a sync I agree with. Sharefile outlook plugin for macAs far as using webmail, I would have to disagree. Once everything has synched, then this is not necessary.
